The Goldfish Swim School specializes in helping very young children become confident in the water. Some of the groups Goldfish specializes in teaching are for children as young as four months! Goldfish touts a four to one swimmer to teacher ratio allowing extremely focused and individualized help as well as their “shiver-free” 90 degree pool! This is by far the best local program for your children interested in learning to swim due to their great instructors and extremely clean facility.

Many of the members of our summer swim team learned to swim under the guidance of the Strongsville location of the Goldfish Swim School. Goldfish does a great job of teaching the real swim strokes with an emphasis on technique and developing the skill to move quickly through the water, unlike some programs that teach for the purpose of knowing how to float in an emergency situation.

– Young instructors
– Teach proper strokes to prepare for swim teams
– Classes can be difficult to register due to high interest

The Forest Hills Swim Lesson program is new addition to rising demand for swim lessons in the Brunswick area. They specialize in water confidence for children who have very minimal experience swimming and aim to prepare them for future growth into a swim team.

The program encourages participation between ages 6 and 14 but oftentimes can teach children younger depending on preexisting confidence in the water. Lessons are only twice per week during the summer, which provides an adequate amount of instruction to see visible improvements.

Swim of Things

Swim of Things is a family owned program run in a charming facility. The instructors are great with kids and allow great flexibility to move up and down groups based on individual progression. Likewise, they boast a four to one swimmer to instructor ratio, giving individualized attention to stroke work, as well as a 90 degree pool.

Swim of Things is “focused, but FUN!” They place an emphasis on progression and teaching their swimmers foundational stroke work to prepare them for even more advancement through swim teams. Swim of Things is a great swim lesson program if you are looking for a more affordable option and enjoy the charm of an inviting facility.

Brunswick Rec Swim Lessons

ProsCons
– Best for older swimmers (8+)

The Red Cross has built what is widely regarded as the most recognizable swim program in America. The Brunswick location takes these existing programs and helps your child learn the proper beginner technique. The instructors are often members of the Swim United swim team or the high school team and provide personalized instruction for your children.

The Brunswick Rec Center’s swim lesson program help teach swimming basics, but the classes are large enough that some swimmers don’t see a sharp improvement like they may at Goldfish and Swim of Things. However, the larger groups do facilitate a more enjoyable environment for most new swimmers and quickly can ease any first-time nervousness for your child.
